intelliBar...

This project is inspired by products of BARCO Nexxis. The company produces very cool boardroom products for video conferencing and information sharing (see BARCO Website ).

The project adds an universal access point in my front room. From the flat screen mounted on the wall, I can access Web, Email, Music and house automation controls (see AV madness section

HOW IT WORKS?

The system is basically an old laptop, cut in half. I separated the screen from the base unit, cut the wires to the screen, and extended them by about a metre. Wall mounted the screen in a nice picture frame. Used trunking to hide the cables to base unit. Installed the base unit under the bar and connected it all up.

The laptop is connected to my house LAN, which gives the user at bar access to the web via my firewall, access to over 2500 MP3's on network drive and connects to the web server on the automation controller.
